Mark Nolan
My name is Mark Nolan. I’ve been a client of Diarmuid’s for about five years now.
I’m a hotelier, and hoteliers get engrossed in their day-to-day work and forget about future planning. I have four young kids, and I had a conversation with Maria, my wife, and we were saying, “What kind of plans are we making long term? We’re living day to day pretty well, but are we making plans for the future?”. So that’s really why I got involved with Diarmuid.
I met Diarmuid through another intermediary and they said, “He’s very good. He’s really got your best interests at heart.” And I think a lot of this is about trust.
Diarmuid has this software, and I’m sure it’s not unique to him, but it is to me. I looked at it this morning because I wanted to know a particular thing. He projects how long you’re going to live. I don’t think I’m going to live to 100 years old, but I’m covered until then, according to Diarmuid. It is a very nice part of it that you can look at it and see exactly what’s happening.
Diarmuid treats you like you’re his only client and I know that’s not the case; I know he’s very much a growing business, but he has that personal touch. The nice thing about it is that I sent him an email on Monday about a particular situation, and a lot of people would think, “It’s Monday, you won’t hear back,” but within an hour, I had a response from Diarmuid saying, “This is maybe something we can have a look at,” so immediately he got back to me. By the nature of this business, you really want quick responses; you want people to be thinking, and he is, and that’s the great thing about dealing with Diarmuid.
I feel very confident about my financial future with Diarmuid at the helm. It’s taken a lot of pressure off me at this stage of my career while I’m beginning to work out my exit strategy from my current job.
I’m 64 years old and I’m very comfortable. Everybody worries about money and the future, but I’m pretty comfortable in the respect that I know exactly what I have to do and, more importantly, what I don’t have to do, and he’s put me very much at ease. He says, “Don’t worry about a thing; we’re okay; we have a handle on this.”
Trust is a key part of this because it is a very personal thing. I just felt from the get-go that Diarmuid was a confidential kind of guy; he had my best interests at heart, and he would do his very best for me.
