Hi, my name is Andrew Ryan. I came to Diarmuid and Chartered Capital after they were introduced to me by my brother. He said, “Go and have a chat with Diarmuid, see how you get on.” And in terms of that, I liked Diarmuid and his approach, and decided to have a second meeting and it went from there.
Geraldine
I’m Geraldine Lillis and Andrew and I have worked together since 2003. Most recently we worked together in a business where we were shareholders alongside others. We sold that business a number of years ago, and we’ve carried on working together with our own investment business.

I suppose the main problem or challenge that I wanted Diarmuid’s help with was to see if there were things I should be doing in terms of financial planning, aspects of wealth management and then retirement planning that I wasn’t already doing. I’m definitely not an expert in the area and my plan was to come and talk to Diarmuid to see if he had any suggestions or solutions that would be interesting to follow up on.

I had spoken to a number of different people, such as accountants and other advisers. They were very specific in their offerings, whereas when I spoke to Diarmuid I understood how much more broad his offering was, and it gave me more of a look into the future. Using a system that he had, he could map out how my finances might look in the future, which I found very helpful.
Geraldine
Planning into the future, looking at investment decisions to minimise tax and maximise wealth is really important but it’s not something that everyone thinks to do. A lot of business owners are not thinking about that because they’re focused on running their business. So, I think it’s absolutely worthwhile to have a conversation with Diarmuid and Chartered Capital to understand some of the things that you could do that will help you overall.

Once you walk in the door, it’s very professional. Geraldine and I have had a great experience working with Catherine and the rest of Diarmuid’s team. Once you get over the fact that he’s a Tipperary man and some of his preferences around that and how good Tipperary are, he’s a very approachable guy who breaks things down very simply, which helps. For me, that’s absolutely perfect, and it’s been a great experience.
